Legislation and Politics Civil Rights laws, affirmative action laws, representation in state and federal government, voting statistics
B
Civil Rights laws have been passed and enforced by the government
While the number of African Americans and Hispanics in the government is not near the percentage of population, the numbers are increasing every year
We have an African American president
African Americans vote at nearly the same rate as the average population, but Hispanics are much lower (average around 60% registering, African American 58%, Hispanic 28%)
Encourage minorities to continue to become active in politics, possibly through schools
Push for voter registration drives and voter eductaion in the Hispanic community, possibly with bilingual voting ballots
Employment
Number of employed / unemployed, types of jobs, business ownership
B-
Due to the economy jobs have been cut in half.
The U.S has increased their labor for minorities dramatically.
The white and the Black population of employment are about equal. (66% to 63%)
Though the Hispanic population is about half of the black and white percentage.
The hispanic population has increases but it hasn't increased enough to be a satisfaction to the public eye.
We could help create jobs for al population but aim it towards the hispanics.
Education Graduation rates, test scores, college enrollment, educational attainment
C
The white population over turns the hispanic and black population.
More hispanic and African americans are dropping out of school.
We should try to keep more kids and adults in school
Open more community colleges, allowing adults to finish school.
Income and Poverty Average income, number below poverty level
B+
The income in our society today has dropped. Due to the down turn we are in.
It has gone up since in the recent years. It could go up a little more, is jobs and education is increased.
With the jobs we can create the average income could go up higher.
We are at a good income, but it could always change, to make things better.
